NABIP South Carolina began the 2024-2025 member year on July 1. During the July 9 Annual Board Planning Meeting, Melanie Ensminger was sworn in as president by Immediate Past President Bradley George, who served from 2022-2024.
With a Bachelor of Science in Business from the College of Charleston, a Master of Arts in Management and a Master of Arts in Human Resources from Webster University, and a Certificate in Higher Education Leadership from the University of South Carolina, Melanie brings a wealth of experience and education to her role. After teaching full-time in the State Technical College System for 7 years, she joined the David M. Gilston Insurance Agency, Inc. in 2007 as Director of Human Resources and received her LA&H license in 2008. Melanie was promoted to Vice President in 2012 and President in 2019. Her extensive responsibilities have included overseeing individual and group sales, performance management, and staff development. She is an active member of the NABIP South Carolina Chapter, having served as Lowcountry Chapter Association Secretary and received the Chapter Distinguished Service Award in 2013.
Melanie is also involved with the BlueCross BlueShield Broker Advisory Board and was a former member of the Joint Base Charleston Advisory Council and served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem for over 5 years. Additionally, she is an approved Continuing Education instructor for the South Carolina Department of Insurance and an adjunct instructor at the College of Charleston.
